Bachelor of Science

Breadth

The Bachelor of Science aims to produce graduates who are trained in a particular discipline (depth) as well as knowledgeable across disciplines (breadth). The breadth component will give students multiple competencies by exposing them to different ways of knowing through cross-disciplinary learning and teaching.

Students will be required to select subjects from outside their main study area and these subjects will form the breadth component of their degree. Breadth subjects enable students to explore a variety of critical, analytical, methodological, theoretical, practical and content-based approaches to study.

There are three types of breadth subjects:

  1. University breadth subjects
  2. Specially-developed breadth subjects
  3. Other subjects which can be taken as breadth
